Order your repeat prescription online

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

Before a prescription is put onto your repeat list, it has to be authorised by the doctor. You will then have a repeat slip attached to your prescription. This has boxes to tick to re-order your medicines. Please allow AT LEAST 3* WORKING DAYS (excluding weekends and bank holidays) for the prescription to be sent to your nominated pharmacy (or the medicine itself to be ready to collect if you are a dispensing patient), if your prescription is due to be sent to a nominated pharmacy the length of time for the pharmacy to prepare your item(s) will depend on the individual pharmacy, you may need to check with them before attending to collect, if they need extra time, ie due to delivery problems. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

*3 Working days from 1st August 2023 (prior to this date the turnaround time is 2 working days)

PLEASE NOTE: The way we administrate medication reviews has changed. It is your responsibility to make appointments for reviews. If your review is due you will be informed either by Dispensary, the chemist or by a message on your prescription. If you fail to make an appointment for a review we will then write to you. We have no wish to withhold medication but hope you will understand the importance of regular reviews.  IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF YOUR REVIEW DATE PLEASE ASK AT EITHER DISPENSARY OR RECEPTION.

Thank you.

PLEASE ORDER ONLY WHAT YOU NEED.

Pre ordering service

Dispensing patients (those who live more than one mile away from the chemist) have the choice of requesting repeat medication from the dispensary one month in advance. On collection of your medication you will be asked to request your medication for the following month. You will then be given a collection date in four weeks time, always a Wednesday. Please ask at the dispensary for further information.

EPS (Electronic Prescribing Service) We are now able to offer this service to our patients.

EPS is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how we send your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.

What does this mean for you?

If you live more than a mile (as the crow flies) from the nearest pharmacy (Boots in Wool) you can continue to collect your repeat medication from the practice dispensary if you wish.

We are not allowed to dispense medication to any patients who live within a mile radius of a pharmacy. Up until now this has meant that most prescriptions, for these patients, have been sent to the local chemist (Boots) on Dorchester Road. Alternatively, the patient has collected the green paper repeat medication from the practice dispensary and taken it to the chemist of their choice.

With electronic prescribing all patients wherever they live can choose which pharmacy they would like to collect their prescription from and we will send it electronically to that place. You will no longer have to collect green paper prescriptions from the dispensary.

If you wish to use this service you will be asked to nominate a place for us to electronically send your prescription to.

EPS is reliable, secure and confidential. Your electronic prescription will be seen by the same people in the practice, pharmacies and NHS prescription payment and fraud agencies that see your paper prescription now.

For more information visit https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/pharmacies/electronic-prescription-service/ or talk to our friendly dispensers who will be happy to help.

Unwanted medication

Patients can return unwanted and out of date medication to the dispensary for safe disposal.

Emergency medication

If medication is needed urgently, patients should contact the dispensary by telephone at the times listed above (01929 462376) or in person. If the items needed are on the patients repeat medication list the medication will be dispensed or a signed prescription issued. If the item is not a repeat item authorisation to dispense will need to be obtained from the duty doctor.

If you need to obtain medication urgently when the surgery is closed please contact the out of hours Urgent Care Service on 111.
