Although some of our elderly patients can remember Dr Anderson from Winfrith visiting patients on horseback, and Dr Carnegie Brown practicing in Wool, the practice as we know it today began in the houses of Dr Tom Bryan in Wool and Dr Philip Boucher in Winfrith Newburgh. (Local villages were a good deal smaller in those days.) As they expanded, Dr Boucher's son (Dr Jeremy) did the surgeries in Broadmayne.
Dr John Cole replaced Dr Bryan when he retired, building a surgery in Wool on the Folly Lane site. Dr Chris Irwin joined him in 1975, to be followed by Dr Chris Rumbold who replaced Dr Philip Boucher in 1976. The larger, surgery in Folly Lane was built in 1983.
Dr Cole retired in 1994, and was succeeded by Dr Nick Lyons. When Dr Irwin became part-time in May 2001, a second part-time partner, Dr Allison French, joined us. Dr Rumbold retired in December 2001 and was replaced by Dr Richard Mugford. Dr Christian Verrinder joined the partnership in April 2003.
In July 2006 we moved in to our new two storey purpose built premises in Meadow Lane. Dr Irwin retired at the end of May 2009 and Dr Ann Marshall joined the practice on 1st June 2009.
